Space in Africa online new portal reported that Ethiopia’s first-ever satellite, the 70 kg multi-spectral remote sensing satellite ET-RSS1, is going to be launched by China on 17 December 2019, at 06:21 h Ethiopian Time. The news was disclosed during a joint press briefing by the Ethiopian Minister of innovation and Technology, Dr Getahun Mekuria, and the General Director of Ethiopian Space Science Technology Institute (ESSTI), Dr Solomon Belay on 22 November. The ground station for receiving the satellite's data will be located in Ethiopia at the Entoto space observatory facility.
