By the morning of 3 January, Tianwen 1 has travelled more than 400 million km on its way to planet Mars. The probe is expected to enter Mars orbit in February. As of 6:00 h BJT on 3 January, the spacecraft has been in space for 163 days. It was about 130 million km away from Earth and in a distance of about 8.3 million km from Mars. The probe is traveling at a speed of 23 km/s, covering about 2 million km a day. According to CNSA, the probe is in stable condition and is scheduled for a deceleration manoeuvre for entering Mars orbit in more than one month from now. The plan is that Tianwen 1 will survey Mars for 3 months before making a landing attempt.
