Wu Weiren, the Chief Designer of China's Lunar Exploration Programme CLEP confirmed that China has completed feasibility studies of the 4th phase of its lunar exploration project and is expected to build an international lunar research station on the Moon's south pole.
With respect to the Sino-Russian cooperation for a research station on the Moon, Wu said: "If the lunar research station project can be successfully implemented, China will not be far away from achieving manned landing on the Moon." He added that Chinese scientists and engineers are studying how to land on the Moon. It will be a long-term lunar stay for Chinese astronauts, not short-term, said Wu.
