China is preparing for the upcoming high-density space missions to construct China's space station, and the Long March-5B carrier rocket, set to launch capsules for the space station, is expected to make its maiden flight in 2020. China is also selecting new astronauts for space station missions. After the construction of the station is completed, China welcomes overseas astronauts to work together with domestic astronauts aboard China's space station. International spacecraft can also be docked with China's space station if they use a Chinese docking mechanism, Zhou Jianping newly appointed Chief Designer of China's manned space programme said.

Yang Liwei made the remarks at the 16th anniversary of his mission into space aboard the Shenzhou 5 spacecraft on 15 October 2003, according to the China Manned Space Agency. "China has started to develop the key technologies related to manned lunar landing. It would be exciting to see Chinese astronauts stepping onto the extraterrestrial object." Yang said. Yang takes part in training every week and undergoes regular examinations. "Like all the other Chinese astronauts, I'm ready for the nation's call." said Yang.

A satellite research and development center started operation on its north section on 12 October in east China's Shanghai.
The Lingang Satellite Center was constructed by the Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of the Chinese Academy of Sciences which participated in the development of the Dark Matter Particle Explorer, nicknamed Wukong or Monkey King, and the quantum science satellite Mozi.

Space engineers have made a key step in designing a new generation launch vehicle that could help start China's manned lunar exploration program, according to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). A pre-study for the carrier rocket, conducted by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT) under the CASC, has passed a review by the China Manned Space Agency.

China's two rocket-carrying ships departed on 12 October from a port in east China's Jiangsu Province on a transportation mission. The two Yuanwang ships are China's first ships made exclusively to carry rockets. With a length of 130 meters, a width of 19 meters and a height of 37 meters, the ships have a displacement of 9,000 tonnes.
