In May 2018, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) published an "Announcement of Opportunity" inviting Member States to submit applications to conduct scientific experiments on board the China Space Station (CSS). Building on the widespread interest and positive results from the application process, the preliminary selection activities and the final selection process, a joint event will be held by UNOOSA and the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) on 12 June 2019 from 13:00-14:00 at the Vienna International Centre to announce the outcome of the final selection.

On 24 May 2019, at the invitation of Prof. Wang Chi, Director General of NSSC, Mr. Carlos Augusto Teixeira de Moura, the President of the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), paid an official visit to NSSC. Prof. Wang Chi met with Mr. Moura and both sides discussed the future cooperation based on the ongoing solid bilateral collaborations in China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite and the China-Brazil Joint Lab for Space Weather. A preliminary consensus has been reached in joint cooperation in science-driven projects and in strengthening the exchanges in the field of space science.

Namrata Goswami explains in her article for "The Diplomat" why with the landing of Chang'e 4 on the far side of the Moon "the discourse on outer space shifted forever. For nearly 50 years, since July 20, 1969, we have lived in the Age of Apollo, which enabled humanity’s first steps on the moon. When dawn broke out on January 3, 2019, we entered the Age of Chang’e, focused on long-term settlement of the lunar poles."

On 24 May, 2019, the Chinese embassy in Rwanda handed over a China-funded satellite television project to the Rwandan government in a ceremony in Rulindo District, central Rwanda. The project will provide 6,000 households in 300 villages across Rwanda with access to digital television, as a part of the ongoing long term access to Satellite TV for 10,000 African Villages initiative.

Ethiopia and China have signed another agreement to jointly build a communication and broadcast satellite. The agreement was signed yesterday in Addis Ababa by Dr. Solomon Belay, Director General of Ethiopian Space Science and Technology Institute, and Han Chinping, Deputy President of Chinese Rocket Company.

The lander and the rover of the Chang'e 4 probe have resumed work for the sixth lunar day on the far side of the moon after "sleeping" during the extremely cold night. The lander woke up at 18:00 h on 28 May, and the rover, Yutu 2 (Jade Rabbit 2), awoke at 2:16 h on 28 May, according to the Lunar Exploration and Space Program Center of the China National Space Administration.
