China's Space Day celebrations centered in Xi'an

Major celebrations of China's Space Day will start on 24 April in Xi'an, capital city of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
This year's celebrations will focus on the applications of space technology in economic and social development, said Tian Yulong, chief engineer of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence.

China launches 1st high-throughput communications satellite

Shijian-13, China's first high-throughput communications satellite, was launched from Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province at 7:04 p.m. on 12 April 2017. The satellite, with a transfer capacity of 20 Gbps and a designed orbital life of 15 years, was sent into orbit on a Long March-3B carrier rocket. The satellite is capable of providing better Internet access on planes and high-speed trains, as well as in less-developed regions.

Belarus sees prospects of cooperation with China in space field

Belarus sees huge prospects for mutual beneficial cooperation with China in space field, Andrey Abramov, Belintersat Project Director, said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.
The director stressed that the further cooperation with Chinese companies in the space field largely depends on the commercial success of the first Belarusian communication satellite, the BELINTERSAT-1, which was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in China on 16 January 2016.
