Shenzhou 14 crew gives lecture from China Space Station lab module

The 3rd live class from China's Space Station was held in the afternoon of 12 October and was delivered by SZ-14 crew members Chen Dong, Liu Yang, and Cai Xuzhe to students on Earth. The main classroom was located at the Technology and Engineering Center for Space Utilization, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The class was also being attended by students from other 3 classrooms in Yunnan, Henan, and Shandong. It is the first science lecture from the Wentian lab module. The previous 2 lectures of the "Tiangong Class" series were delivered by the SZ-13 crew from the Station's core module Tianhe.

BDS satellite navigation system bolsters Chinese online map app’s positioning capability

The daily positioning volume of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) during the National Day holidays exceeded 150 billion times, an increase of more than 50 % compared with the pre-holiday period, China's tech giant Baidu said on 12 October. The data came after Chinese online map Baidu Maps announced an official switch to the Beidou priority positioning on 30 September, with daily positioning volume exceeding 100 billion times for the first time. The company said 97.81 % of positioning had achieved BDS priority.

Solution found to combat light-injection attacks, ensure security of quantum communications

A group of scientists from China, Russia and Thailand have jointly developed a practical solution to combat light-injection attacks during quantum key distribution (QKD) to ensure the security of quantum communications, according to Russia's National University of Science and Technology (MISIS), an institute that participated in the research. Experts noted that advances in this technology are significant for the transmission of information that requires confidentiality.
