At the 22nd China International Industry Fair (CIIF), currently taking place in Shanghai, visitors can have a look at a model of Mars probe Tianwen 1 and a new medium-sized carrier rocket, developed by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology.
The liquid-fuelled rocket is 59 m long, has a take-off thrust of about 500 t and a take-off weight of about 430 t. SAST told media that the new rocket is scheduled for its first flight during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025). It will compete in the commercial market for launches of domestic and foreign commercial satellites and payloads, providing economical, efficient and convenient launch services.
