China launched a CZ-3B carrier rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in Sichuan province short after midnight on 30 December BJT. The launch marked the completion of the country's annual launch schedule. The rocket took off at 00:43 BJT and sent the Communication Technology Demonstrator 9 into GEO, according to CASC. It was the 48th flight of the Long March rocket family and the 55th Chinese launch in 2021. The CAST-developed experimental satellite is tasked with verifying multi-band, high-speed satellite communication technologies.
