The Shenzhou 14 taikonauts, currently in orbit for a 6-month mission, will have the privilege of completing the construction of China's space station, the final goal of China's "3-step" human space programme initiated 30 years ago. In 1992, when constructing a crewed orbiting laboratory was still a flight of fancy for the Chinese people, China embarked on a "3-step" strategy to boost its human space programme.
