A research institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has announced a constellation program, planning to launch 72 small satellites for the Internet of Things in the next three years. The program will be implemented by Beijing-based private satellite company "Commsat," which was funded by the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics under the CAS. A total of eight communication satellites of the program were sent into space last year for in-orbit tests.

China's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST) has discovered 84 new pulsars since its trial operation began in September 2016, Jiang Peng, FAST Chief Engineer told Xinhua on 03 July 2019. Pulsar observation is an important task for FAST, which can be used to confirm the existence of gravitational radiation and black holes and help solve many other major questions in physics. FAST is also in charge of the exploration of interstellar molecules and interstellar communication signals.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has unveiled a cloud technology-based data platform tailored to the commercial space industry.
The Space Cloud Cubic platform launched on 26 June in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, is developed to provide comprehensive solutions to various parties in the commercial space industry, the CAS said. Developed by CAS Tianta Co. Ltd., the platform has six major functions, including cloud measurement and control, cloud management, cloud communication, cloud storage, cloud computing, and cloud services.

China's two ocean observation satellites, HY-1C and HY-2B, have completed their in-orbit delivery, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Ling Yueming, vice minister of natural resources, said China will take advantage of both land and ocean observation satellites and create a network for natural resources monitoring, which will support ecological protection.

New Agency Reuters reported on 27 June, that the U.S. and China are aiming for a meeting on civil space matters this autumn.
David Turner, Deputy Director of the U.S. State Department Office of Space and Advanced Technology told Reuters: "We have reason to talk to China about being a responsible actor in outer space, regardless almost of anything that happens." Kevin O’Connell, Director of the Office of Space Commerce at the U.S. Commerce Department mentioned that it is in the interest of the U.S. to understand China's philosophy of commercial space activities.
