Russia’s State Space Corporation Roscosmos and the China National Space Administration (CNSA) have agreed to hold an experiment before 1 October 2018 to use testing grounds for raising the quality of assessing Earth’s remote sensing data, the Roscosmos press office reported on 4 July 2018.
"The partners have agreed to hold a joint experiment for using the Russian and Chinese testing grounds for raising the quality of assessing the Earth’s remote sensing data of their satellites before October 1, 2018," the press office said. The sides agreed that cooperation in the Earth’s remote sensing was a major area of Russian-Chinese interaction in peaceful space exploration

On 4 July, One Space, a Chinese NewSpace startup developing low-cost launch vehicles, successfully tested the first stage rocket motor of its M-series family of rockets. The success of this test means One Space is on track for the first test launch of OS-M1, the first of its M-series launch vehicles, scheduled for the end of 2018.

A delegation from China's National Space Administration is set to hold talks with Roscosmos on the possibility of creating a jointly-run orbital station, the Russian media outlet Sputnik has learned from a source in the space and rocketry industry. The Chinese government is interested in Russia's experience with long space flights and the construction of large space projects as it prepares to start construction of a large, multi-module space station within the next few years. In addition, the source said, China lacks access to key technology and is ready to partner with Roscosmos in exchange for Russian know-how.

APT is looking to provide communication to Belt and Road countries, said Huang Baozhong, EVP of APT Satellite. “We are doing this step by step, including railway projects in Laos, including some Chinese projects in Malaysia and Indonesia. One example is West Sulawesi, in Indonesia, where there’s an industrial zone mainly backed by the Chinese companies. Even today, the local internet network is very poor. They asked us for help..and with one satellite covering so many countries, that will play a vital role [in connectivity]”.

On 4 July, China launched a new space science programme focusing on the origin and evolution of the universe, black holes, gravitational waves and relationship between the solar system and human. The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) announced to finally develop the group of four satellites, for which initial planning was already done: Einstein-Probe, Advanced Space-borne Solar Observatory - ASO-S, Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer - SMILE, Gravitational Wave Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor - GECAM.

Chinese scientists have set a world record for entanglement of 18 quantum bits, keeping their lead in the field of quantum computing. The research by scientists at the University of Science and Technology of China was recently published in the academic journal, Physical Review Letters. The manipulation of multi-particle entanglement is the core of quantum computing technology and has been the focus of international research competition, said Pan Jianwei, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a leading scientist of the study.
