International Symposium on the Peaceful Use of Space Technology - Health

The symposium on the Peaceful Use of Space Technology – Health (IPSPACE 2021) will take place as a hybrid event from 18-20 November 2021 in Beijing. The broad theme of IPSPACE 2021 is the peaceful use of space technology for human health. Under the conference's motto "One Space, One Home" international scientists, entrepreneurs, educators, scholars, and professionals in health, spatial IT, education, finance, insurance, and energy will join to reflect on the latest developments of space for the benefit of humanity.

China-Russia Consortium Space Weather Centre established in Beijing

On 16 November, the China-Russia Consortium (CRC) space weather centre was established in Beijing. Its objective is to accelerate the development of meteorological services for international civil aviation and enhance China's international influence in the sector. The centre is jointly established and operated by the China Meteorological Administration, the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring. It is the first global center approved by the International Civil Aviation Organisation in Chinese civil aviation meteorology and also the fourth global space weather centre.

iSpace completes investigation into latest unsuccessful launch

iSpace announced that it has completed an investigation into its SQX-1 (Hyperbola-1) Y5 launch failure on 3 August, adding that it will ramp up efforts in management and technology improvement. The rocket failed to send the payload to its planned orbit after the launch on August 3, as the separation of its nose cone was unsuccessful. The research team located the problem in an investigation lasting more than 100 days after the unsuccessful launch.

Shenzhou 13 crew conducts tai chi on board Tianhe module

A video released on 16 November shows Zhai Zhigang, a crew member of Shenzhou 13, practicing tai chi on the Tiangong-1 space lab module with flowing and graceful movements. The tradition of Chinese astronauts practicing tai chi started in 2012 when the country's Shenzhou 9 crew member Liu Yang first did so in space and called the experience comfortable. Before returning from the Shenzhou 12 mission in September, taikonaut Nie Haisheng also practiced tai chi on board the Tianhe core cabin during an Earth-space video call with Hong Kong youths. Apart from doing tai chi, Chinese taikonauts also play ping pong, ride a stationary bike and run on a treadmill to help train their breathing.
