China's Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST), the world's largest single-dish radio telescope, has for the first time detected eruptive pulses of radio energy from an object known to the astronomy community as FRB 121102. There have been less than 100 fast radio bursters (FRBs) discovered, and FRB 121102 is the only one that has been detected erupting more than once, with the previous detection in 2015 by the Arecibo radio telescope. Repetition is considered important for those trying to unravel the nature of these objects.
