The Gaofen 10 observation satellite was launched on 4 October 2019 at 18:51 UTC aboard a Long March-4C rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre and entered the planned orbit successfully. As part of the China's high-definition Earth observation project, the microwave remote sensing satellite is capable of providing photographs with a resolution of less than 1 m. Gaofen 10, built by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, will be used in land survey, urban planning, road network design, crop yield estimate, as well as disaster relief. It can also serve key national strategies such as the Belt and Road Initiative.
