Fengyun 3E weather satellite captures first images of Sun

The Fengyun 3E weather satellite has captured its first test pictures of the Sun, offering improved assistance in predicting solar activities and their impact on Earth and space weather. The satellite's imaging sensor, the first of its kind, can capture images of hot gases in the Sun's outer atmosphere with X-rays, while extreme ultraviolet images show the Sun's dark bars at a lower temperature. Shenzhou 12 taikonauts have live call with HK students

The taikonauts on board China's Tiangong space station had a real-time video dialogue with 300 students in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in the afternoon of 3 September. During the 20 min dialogue, the 3 Shenzhou 12 crew members greeted participants in Hong Kong and then answered questions from the students, such as how they conduct experiments, do physical exercise and drink water. They also showed the students different parts inside the Station and demonstrated the function of some equipment.

Gaofen-5 02 launched from Taiyuan

On 7 September, 11:01 BJT, China sent the new Earth observation satellite Gaofen-5 02 into space from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre. The satellite was launched aboard a CZ-4C rocket and entered its planned orbit successfully. It is the 24th Gaofen-series spacecraft. Developed by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology based on its SAST3000 satellite platform, the Gaofen 5-02 is equipped with hyperspectral observational devices tasked with monitoring air, water and environments, according to China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp.
