China develops prototype Mars helicopter - interview with the project leader

The newly developed and recently unveiled prototype miniature helicopter drone, a possible means to support China's Mars missions, is designed to become a navigator for the Mars rover. It will greatly boost the latter's ability to explore valuable targets on the surface of the Red Planet, Bian Chunjiang the project leader at NSSC told Global Times.

China sets up space station experience base for students

The China Science and Technology Museum in Beijing announced on 6 September the opening of the China Space Station Scientific Innovation Experience Base inside its main building and held a class with the China Manned Space Agency and hundreds of students from Beijing. The class began with a video of the 3 Chinese astronauts, or taikonauts, currently in space, sending their congratulations for the opening of the base.

Satellite and Centre of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals

On 6 September, the International Research Centre of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was inaugurated in Beijing to support the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The centre will be responsible for the development and operation of the SDGSAT-1. The satellite is expected to provide advanced, open and shared data resources for monitoring and evaluating the sustainable development index representing the interaction between human and nature. The satellite has three payloads of thermal infrared, low light level and multispectral imager, with 300 km wide data acquisition capability. It can achieve global coverage within 11 days. SDGSAT-1, has already passed space verification tests.
