An experiment with up to 36 people lying in bed simultaneously to simulate the effects on the human body experienced in a weightless space environment recently concluded at a research institute in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province. During the experiment, 36 recruited male volunteers rested in beds that were tilted head-down at a six-degree angle for 90 days. Over the three-month period from August to October, tests and data collections have been done more than 10,000 times concerning the participants' basic physiology, angiocarpy, bones, psychological status and other items.

The Space-time & Remote Sensing Big Data Forum was held under the umbrella of the 2019 Changshu Golden Autumn Economic & Trade Conference. A series of forums and activities focusing on big data, space technology and intelligent manufacturing technology were conducted in an effort to help Changshu to forge a digital economic development demonstration zone and provide fresh impetus for the city's high-quality development. The city of Changshu signed strategic cooperation agreements with Robot Funder Club (RFC) and Beijing Institute of Spacecraft Environment Engineering (BISEE), a subsidiary of the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) on the conference.

The second phase of the programme has now started, Wang Chi, Director of the National Space Science Center under the CAS, recently told media. The first mission of the second phase was Taiji-1, China's first satellite to conduct in-orbit experiments on key technologies related to space-based gravitational wave detection. The four new missions include the Gravitational Wave Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM), expected to be launched at the end of 2020, the Advanced Space-borne Solar Observatory (ASO-S), the Einstein-Probe (EP), tasked with discovering celestial bodies that emit X-rays and the Solar Wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer, or SMILE.

At the 1st China Space Science Assembly held in Xiamen, east China's Fujian Province, from 25 October to 28 October, Chen Shanguang, Deputy Chief Designer of China's manned space programme, said the future trend of manned space cause is to explore the Moon, and establish a lunar base to carry out scientific research, and accumulate technology and experience for going deeper into space. "The long-term goal is to send people to Mars." China is carrying out in-depth demonstration and long-term planning for its manned lunar exploration, and has formed an overall consensus and a preliminary plan.

On 26 October, Chinese private rocket company LandSpace held a successful long-range trial run of the variable thrust of the reusable liquid oxygen methane engine, laying the foundation for the recovery of reusable rockets. The engine named TQ-12, which was independently developed by LandSpace, completed its 200-second test that covered the entire flight time of the rocket. A major focus was on the feasibility of the engine thrust regulation and preliminary examination of the reliability of the engine itself, according to a statement sent to the Global Times by LandSpace.

The several parts of the 3rd Long March 5 carrier rocket arrived by Yuanwang 21 and 22 at the port of Wenchang, on the island province of Hainan, on 27 October. From the port, the parts will be transported by truck to the Wenchang Space Launch Center for final tests and mission preparation. The two rocket transport vessels had left the northern coastal city of Tianjin (where the CZ-5 was built) on 22 October. CNSA said in the statement on 27 October, that the rocket will be prepared for the launch of the DFH 5-based SJ-20 technology demonstration satellite into GEO at a date which will be announced later.
