A remote sensing satellite designed for health research has been approved for development, and it is expected to be delivered in August 2023 and launched before October. It will be developed by the Medical Remote Sensing Information Institute of Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University, established in April in central China’s Wuhan. The satellite will detect environmental factors that affect human health in mainly China and then in neighboring countries, serving infectious disease traceability, endemic disease analysis, health and longevity factor monitoring, post-disaster epidemic prevention and control, public disease prevention and other fields.

CMSA provided on 15 August technical details on the solar arrays of the Chinese Space Station modules. Wentian's solar panels have a solar wingspan of over 55 m. A single wing spreads across 110 m2, making the total expanded area two times larger than that of the panels on the Tianhe core module. The launch of a module with solar wings so wide that they may disturb the docking process through self-oscillation posed a challenge to the space engineers. The solution they came up with is a sequential unfolding method.

To provide a comfortable living environment for the taikonauts on board the Station, the research team on the ground has put in quite an effort to turn it down. The refrigerator is one of the noisy equipment inside the Wentian module because it has as many integrated functions as possible. The researchers had to design a new pump and noise-reduction materials. As the equipment are different in aspects, including the size, location and the cause of the noise, the research team had to use diverse methods to reduce the noise, such as covering them with rubber or placing them inside soundproof boxes. As a result, the noise in the work area in the Wentian module is maintained at under 60 decibels. It is 50 decibels in the sleeping area, which offers taikonauts a quiet environment to rest as they continue their work in space.
