China has always understood that only innovation can drive the country along the trajectory to becoming a space power. China has helped over 20 countries and regions with 50 launches, and exported satellites to nine countries.
Furthermore, China will become the only country with a permanent space station when the International Space Station retires in 2024. China will continue to promote innovation in space science, space technology and space applications, contributing more to both national development and the well-being of mankind.

Macao marked the second anniversary of China's Space Day on 24 April afternoon to popularize space science to young students in the special administrative region (SAR). The event, held in the Macao Science Center, was organized by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau of the SAR government. About 400 middle school students attended the event. Chinese astronaut Wang Yaping, a crew member of China's Shenzhou-10 manned spacecraft, shared her experience of ground training and orbit operation with the students after showcasing several video clips about the space mission.

China's Long March-5 Y2 carrier rocket departed northern China's Tianjin Port for the launch base in southern Hainan 24 April.
The 24 April is also China's second Space Day, which was chosen to mark the anniversary of the country's first satellite launch Dongfanghong-1 in 1970.
Carried by special rocket-carrying ships, the rocket will arrive in Wenchang, Hainan Province, for the scheduled launching of the Shijian-18 communication satellite in June.

The Tianzhou 1 cargo spacecraft, China's first cargo spacecraft, successfully completed automated docking with the orbiting Tiangong 2 space lab at 12:23 p.m. 22 April, according to Beijing Aerospace Control Center. It is the first docking between the spacecraft and space lab.

A coalition was established on 23 April in northwest China's Shaanxi Province to promote innovation and cooperation on space exploration under the the Belt and Road Initiative. The coalition, set up in the provincial capital of Xi'an, encompasses 48 universities, research institutes and academic organizations at home and abroad. It was initiated by the Chinese Society of Astronautics and Xi'an-based Northwestern Polytechnical University.
Tian Yulong, Secretary-General of China National Space Administration, said the alliance will boost exchanges on space innovation between its members and help joint training of high-caliber professionals.
