CGTN’s flagship program China 24 invited former NASA astronaut Terry Virts and Yang Yuguang from the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation into the studio for more discussions on space exploration. Yang told CGTN that inviting other countries into the program is a win-win game for both China and the world, as it can not only help China’s space program grow faster, but also bring opportunities to other countries for their science experiments. Virts said during the studio interview that his favorite part of being an astronaut is embracing different life styles in space. Doing science experiments, talking to media, and being a doctor to other crew members were all parts of his life there.

That China opens its future space station to the world will reinforce international cooperation for the peaceful use of outer space, said Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), Simonetta Di Pippo. In cooperation with the UNOOSA, China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) is to utilise the CSS to promote international cooperation in manned space flight and space exploration, providing flight experiment and space application opportunities on board the space station for UN Member States. "This is an agreement which will allow the entire world to use, for scientific purposes, the China Space Station when it will be ready," Di Pippo said. "It's the first time it is open to all member states," she hailed in an interview with Xinhua.

China announced on 28 May that all Member States of the United Nations are welcome to cooperate with China to jointly utilise its future China Space Station (CSS). "CSS belongs not only to China, but also to the world," said Shi Zhongjun, China's Ambassador to UN and other international organisations in Vienna. "All countries, regardless of their size and level of development, can participate in the cooperation on an equal footing," he stressed.

Fifteen Chinese astronauts have just completed desert survival training deep in the Badain Jaran Desert near Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China. Organised by the Astronaut Center of China (ACC), the program was designed to prepare astronauts with the capacity to survive in the wilderness in the event their re-entry capsule lands off target. This is the latest survival training activity for Chinese astronauts after their sea survival training in August 2017.
